Operational Plant Tracking for Construction
See the recorded contract, supplier, depot and status of hired and owned plant in one current operational view, without GPS tracking hardware.
If you can't see your plant, you're managing rumours
"What plant have we got on Riverside?" shouldn't be a research project. But when hires live in a spreadsheet, owned plant lives in a yard diary and movements live in phone calls, the honest answer is always "let me get back to you", and the answer you get back is already out of date.
That gap costs real money: kit hired in that was already on site, machines difficult to trace between contracts, and duplicate requests raised because teams cannot see the current operational record.
One current operational view of hired and owned plant
Equipbase tracks plant as a by-product of the workflows you already run in it: hire orders put hired plant on contracts, movements allocate owned plant to contracts, off-hires and returns take them off again. The tracking is never a separate location log; it updates as teams complete those workflows.
The result is a current recorded answer to everyday questions: what's on this contract, what's on hire from this supplier, where is this asset, what's due off, and what's sitting in the depot available to work.
What you can do with plant tracking
Plant by contract
Hired and owned plant on a contract, with recorded status and dates in one view.
Plant by supplier
Every live hire per supplier, so supplier conversations happen with the facts in front of you.
Status at item level
Follow hired items through Requested, Awaiting Delivery, On Site, Off-hire Requested, Awaiting Collection and Off Hired.
Asset location and history
For owned plant, see its recorded current location and completed movement history.
Site-team view
Site users see their own contract's plant. Fewer calls to the office, fewer duplicate orders.
Audit trail
Changes are recorded as they happen, so the history of an item is evidence, not recollection.

Frequently asked questions
Is this GPS tracking?
No. Equipbase tracks plant through its workflow records: orders, deliveries, movements, off-hires and returns. It answers "which contract is this recorded against and why"; it does not show a live GPS position.
Does it track both hired and owned plant?
Yes: hired plant through its orders and off-hires, owned plant through its movements and allocations. Both appear in the relevant contract view.
How does it stay accurate?
The recorded view updates through the work completed in Equipbase, such as raising orders, completing transfers and requesting off-hires. It is an operational record rather than a separate location log.
Can site teams see other sites' plant?
Access depends on the user's role and current configuration. Ask us to demonstrate the access model for your intended site and office users.
